At the 3rd annual Slovenian Innovation Forum, Domel presented a novel BMC mass die casting solution for reinforcement of motor bearing shields.
In the area of dishwasher main pump motors, we have witnessed a transition from Silumin to less expensive and energy-saving UP-BMC mass yokes. In this transition, round bearing shield brackets to fix the motor onto the dishwasher body represent a major obstacle. The application of BMC has specifically proven unstable in the case of heavily loaded round brackets. The innovation comprises the implementation of plastic yoke manufacture. The focus of the innovation is on automated installation of metal reinforcement into the tool at the bracket location in the stage between casting and curing the yoke. The reinforcement increases bracket strength by a factor of 4 and the method yields a stable production process. The procedure is patented; we have acquired a 100% order and have thus restricted the manoeuvring range for competition.
Due to this novelty, Domel has been ranked among the ten most innovative companies in 2008. With this project of product development, design, tooling and manufacturing of components, Domel has established itself as a competent development supplier to a renowned manufacturer of dishwashers.
