Exploring Space Industry Opportunities in Bavaria

08. 07. 2025 | dr. Janez Rihtaršič

Last week, Domel took part in a professional excursion organized by the Slovenian-German Chamber of Commerce (AHK Slovenia), in cooperation with the Slovenian Space Office (Ministry of the Economy, Tourism and Sport), and under the patronage of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy.

The goal: to explore the latest developments in the rapidly growing aerospace industry and to seek collaboration opportunities between Slovenian and Bavarian companies.

High-Tech Companies and Cutting-Edge Innovations

We visited several high-tech companies operating in the aerospace sector and got a first-hand look at advanced technologies, such as:

  • next-generation composite materials,

  • additive manufacturing (3D printing),

  • innovative production approaches,

  • high-precision measurement systems.

We were truly impressed by the breakthrough technologies and openness for collaboration. The space sector is evolving fast and increasingly open to smaller but innovative players.

Domel’s Perspective: Precision Meets Opportunity

At Domel, we identified several potential directions for future product development tailored to this demanding yet promising industry. The aerospace sector requires absolute precision, reliability, and efficiency — qualities we already pursue in our solutions.

Impressions from the visit
In front of ISAR Aerospace. The company, founded in 2018, successfully carried out its first test launch of a two-stage rocket in Norway this year. We also met two Slovenians who play important roles in the organization and development of the rocket.
Just before entering the cleanroom facilities at OHB System AG, where the assembly of the PLATO satellite - designed for observing distant planets - was underway.
At the evening reception hosted by Maša Šiftar, Consul General of the Republic of Slovenia in Munich, in the company of Tobias Gotthardt, State Secretary at the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy.

We would like to thank the Slovenian-German Chamber of Commerce and the Slovenian Space Office for the invitation and excellent organization. We return inspired, with concrete ideas and clear directions for the future.
