80 years of Domel: When doors open, innovations get a face

In May, Domel concluded a special series of events – our Open Door Days, marking eight decades of innovation and growth. We welcomed more than 750 visitors to our locations in Železniki and Škofja Loka, which gave us a wonderful opportunity to showcase what we are most proud of: our employees and our expertise.

We often hear that Domel is the "invisible heart" of devices people use every day. From coffee machines to medical devices and cars – our motors and components are everywhere. But for our 80th anniversary, we wanted to make this "invisible heart" tangible.

More than just a factory tour

The Open Door Days were more than just walks through production halls. They were a meeting of generations. Within our facilities, we hosted:

• Former colleagues, who watched with enthusiasm as the company has modernized and digitalized over the years.

• Young talents, pupils, and students, who got a close-up look at their potential future working environment and learned about scholarship opportunities.

• The local community, who gained insight into the world-class processes that happen right here, in our home environment.

Statistics reflecting connection

The response pleasantly surprised us. Together, we hosted over 750 visitors. The highest attendance was recorded at the Otoki (283 visitors) and Trata 1 (232 visitors) locations, where we conducted a record number of guided tours. The Na Plavžu and Reteče locations also attracted many curious visitors eager to discover the heart of our production.

Employees are the ones moving boundaries

While we are proud of our robotic lines and technological innovation, the true stars of the event were our employees. Our expert colleagues took on the roles of guides, explaining complex processes in a simple and understandable way with immense pride. It was this personal touch – a handshake, an answer to a question, and contagious goodwill – that visitors truly took home with them.

A glimpse into the future

At Domel, we believe that 80 years of tradition is not just a venerable anniversary, but above all, a commitment to the future. The Open Door Days showed us that interest in engineering, development, and sustainable solutions remains incredibly strong in our environment.
